State Fair Combines Fun, Family, Food and Wacky Art
By Patrick McGilvray SACRAMENTO (OBSNews.com) - California's State Fair is in full effect and the opening night on Friday was marked by music, art, and the midway full of rides, games, and food. People come to the State Fair for many reasons, and this years theme, "Weird, Wild, Wacky," seemed to bring out the child in people young and old. One of this years highlights is the amazing toothpick scuplture by artist Scott Weaver is an homage to San Francisco constructed of over 100,000 toothpicks. More than 30 years in the making this piece of art served throngs of art lovers on opening night as the main attraction. A personal favorite was this guitar: Another highlight of the night was the crowd-pleasing hypnotist Terry Stokes. His act and the audience members who acted upon his hypnotic suggestions pleased the crowd for quite some time.
