SACRAMENTO (OBSNews.com) - On Wednesday, January 27, 2010, The Public Sector Technology Exchange (PTSE - PublicSectorTechnologyExchange.com) hosted a panel discussion and seminar on Cost Optimization Strategies for the State of California. The event and video recordings below were sponsored by HP and Western Blue, an NWN Company.

The event commenced with an industry update by featured Gartner speaker, Rishi Sood. After the industry update by Sood, an interview by Juanice Campbell of Western Blue, an NWN Company with Marius Haas, SVP HP ProCurve followed that examined HP’s internal cost optimization strategies.

Next, a panel discussion interacted with the audience to discuss their questions on cost optimization. The panel was comprised of:

Samantha Thomas - CSO, State of California Department of Financial Institutions

Marius Haas - Senior Vice President, HP ProCurve

Gigi Smith - Deputy Director-CIO, State of California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs

Terry Joslin - President, Western Blue

Michael Cave - Acting CIO, State of California Department of Toxic Substances Control

Richard Gillihan - Chief, IT Operations & Consulting, State of California Department of Finance

James Baker, governmental contracting expert and head of the Public Sector Technology Exchange stated “The goal of all PSTE events are to bring industry and government together to share ideas on how to leverage information technology.”

The next PSTE event will take place on March 25th and will discuss cloud computing.
